Especially younger people with no meaning and purpose who haven't found their true spiritual calling yet. Being part of the "save the planet" movement feels great and meaningful. My point was proven. the map I linked is from the “Brisbane Storm Chasers Homepage (BSCH) which is where SMH obtained its map, compare the two, its quite evident on inspection that SMH cropped all the identifiers off the bottom of the map they published establishing it is not a BOM map that was colored in by a journalist as implied, sarcasm aside. So, the partly coloured map obtained from the BOM used for the comparison, this is an event related product, it is labelled "Heat Wave Map", These products have been like this for years, they are selectively colored for the region the "warned event" will affect, just like this one for southern NSW. http://www.bom.gov.au/products/IDN21037.shtml
The localised threat product ensures authorities outside the warned area don't stand up unnecessary resources such as RFS, Fire, Police, Ambulance and SES among other things that occur at every level of government.
