Events are leading me to develop some cautious optimism!
The cynic in me worries they are setting us up to fail, knowing what is to come... Time will tell, but I'm still grateful for any and all 'good' news.
Thank you for the Nisargadatta recommendation; I'm on my first of perhaps many read-throughs of I Am That. Looks like it will be one of those where it takes 30 minutes to read a page - 1 minute reading and 29 minutes thinking :D
That's exactly how it is for me. I read a sentence or paragraph most evenings and contemplate on it until I fall asleep. I am in my eights year now reading this book almost every day. It just gets deeper and deeper. I also lost any interet to read any other book that is knowledge based. It feels I want to discard all my knowledge, not add to it. Gaining more conceptual knowledge feels more and more like a waste of my time and resources. I also feel that Nisargadatta words penetrate my everyday living more and more, mostly on a subsconscious level. This book is out of this world for me.
I was at markets in Bellingen a few weeks back, and found a market stall which had ALL the Advaita Vedanta greats. Ramesh, Papaji, others. I had many of them - but was delighted to find Nisargadatta Maharaj and Sri Ramana Maharshi. The market stall holder - I had to greet her and hug her - because - just touching these books is uplifting - absorbing them, meditating with them - living them, all the more so. It was a good hug. (I'm looking forward to that Hug, @Ma Mu!)
I only live one hour from Bellingen. I will look out for her. I totally share your excitement about all things Advaita Vedanta. It is like this one unmoving soothing calming centre of a world spiralling out of control.
I heard a good one from vocal coach Chloe Goodchilde: The drone is the source, the base, the steady state upon which all (melody, harmony, rhythm) is created.
So we were in your hood a coupla weeks back. Opportunity missed!

Very encouraging for New Zealand!
Let’s hope Canada follows your lead!
