The above graph is from The International Disaster Database, a leading organisation in the world looking into natural disasters. They have been doing this since 1988 and have recorded over 26,000 disasters since 1900. They look like they know what they are doing:
As you can see, global weather and climate disasters have declined by roughly 10% over the past twenty years.
However, if you believe Mainstream Media, climate disasters are exploding worldwide due to climate change. Even the most rational and awake readers sometimes crumble under the avalanche of catastrophic climate events.
Worse, mass media colluding with climate-change-captured government organisations like the Australian Bureau of Meteorology (BOP) are not embarrassed at all to accelerate a rare few warm and sunny days in September 2023 topping out just above 30C/86F to a “severe weather event” and “extreme heatwave”. In the process, they created extremely red misleading weather maps to support the false narrative. This crosses ethical journalistic boundaries that have been sacred for many decades. But not anymore. Exaggerations and lies are now used to hammer home the “global boiling” agenda. See my long, satirical take on that here:
The reality of declining numbers of climate and weather disaster events does not fit the current hyped-up agenda by the UN (declared “period of global boiling”) and other globalist organisations and is sometimes countered by graphs like this one:
It plots the costs of disasters on a timeline, and there you have it, say the climate alarmists; disasters have increased dramatically over the past 30 years, and this is due to climate change.
Don’t get fooled by this misinformation at best. It is more likely deliberate disinformation. Costs don’t reflect the occurrences and deadliness of disasters. The values of destroyed property and infrastructure increased dramatically because of inflation over the years. Costs must be adjusted and normalised to be accurate and comparable across decades.
Thankfully, the Insurance Council of Australia (ICA) does that:
And gone is the apparent trend of increasing costs for global climate and wether disasters.
One thing is clear. Their engineering and pollution has changed the color of the sky from a darker blue to a lighter one over several decades and the big fluffy Cumulo Nimbus have been generally replaced by the whimsy chemical trails. But those who were frogs cooked slowly won’t have noticed this.
Surprised the 2009 costs were so low, with maybe 3500 homes lost to fire in victoria.
